Description

Saturday, September 27th 8am-4pm

ARC board member Scott Vail will be leading this hike. The trail is a short journey on a portion of the route used by John Fremont’s second expedition when they crossed the Sierras in February of 1844. At this time of year, the aspens should be in full color. The trail follows a creek and meadow system to the junction with the trail from Burnside Lake. We will only hike the relatively flat portion of the trail before it drops precipitously to Grover Hot Springs. We will also look at the Beaver Dam Analogs on the Carson River in Faith Valley and if time permits the Devils Ladder at Carson Pass. This hike is moderately difficult. It will be 7.5 miles and mostly flat with a few steep pitches through granite boulders. The hike is generally at about 7800 feet elevation for the length of the hike. Blizzard conditions cancel. Fit 14-year-olds+ and well-behaved dogs on-leash welcome. Meeting location in Placerville area. FREE. A detailed email will be sent once you register online. REIGSTRATION LINK
